After a day of intense competition and camaraderie at Göta Älv Rodden, we invite you to join us for an unforgettable After-Row celebration! The evening promises to be a perfect way to unwind, refuel, and relive the day's best moments.
The doors will open at 19:00, welcoming you to a relaxed and festive atmosphere where you can replenish your energy with a carefully prepared, nutritious dinner. We’ll make sure your mineral and hydration levels are restored, while you enjoy a delicious meal in great company.
Throughout the evening, you can look forward to engaging entertainment and heartfelt speeches. Special tributes will be made to those who have truly excelled during the day, with awards and recognitions that honor their hard work and dedication.
This event is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow rowers, reminisce about the day’s highlights. Whether you’re celebrating a win or simply enjoying the evening’s festivities, the After-Row promises to be a highlight of the entire event.
Tickets for the evening are 300 SEK, payable on site, and include dinner, one drink, entertainment, and a night full of celebration. Please make sure to register in advance to help us with the planning.

Göta Älv Rodden is an iconic rowing event that takes place annually along the scenic Göta älv, stretching between Kungälv and Bananpiren in Gothenburg, Sweden. With a history spanning over 62 years, this historic event has become a cherished tradition and a highlight for rowing enthusiasts from all over the world.

Course
After 11 years it is finally time to a revival of the classical Götaälvrodden first held in 1952. GötaÄlvrodden is one of the oldest rowing races in Sweden and a natural closure of the season. The race starts just north of Kungälv and the finish line are outside the Opera house in Gothenburg, 20 kilometers downstream the largest river in Sweden – Göta Älv. Through the years, we have apart from always reappeared Nordic participants also had teams from England, Germany and Poland.
Race classes
The following classes for Eights will be held:
Women – Open, Master/Amateur, Junior
Men – Open, Master/Amateur, Junior
The following classes for 4+ “inrigger”/Coastal/Gig will be held:
Women – Open
Men – Open
There will also be races in 10-huggare (old type of rescue boats) and Färöingar (small
“Viking ships” with six rowers) competing over 10km.
Entry Fee
8+: 2250 kr
4+: (Gig, C4+, Inrigger): 1250 kr
Färöing: 1250 kr
10-huggare: 2250 kr
Included in the registration fee is a bag of bananas and soup, to enjoy in the finish area. Lunch will be served in connection to the finish, shower and changing rooms will be also be available.
The entry fee will be billed after the race.
Competition Rules
Only club crews are allowed. Juniors are rowers between 16-18 years, this year. Masters/amateur teams have a crew with at least five rowers who have not participated in races of a length of 1500-2000 meters, during this year. These rowers must be 27 years old before the first of January. Mixed teams are permitted in all boatclasses. In mixed team (the cox excluded) the numbers of women and men is not defined. Mixed teams will compete in the men’s equaling classes. The start is done class by class with five minute intervals. The results are decided by the race time.
Traffic Rules
The race takes place on the river Göta Älv. There are several navigation marks/poles along the river, they are the fairway. Rowing outside the marks are done at own risks. The river is an open fairway and we can therefore not stop other traffic, but the port of Gothenburg and cargo ships are aware of the race and show as much respect as possible.
AFTER-ROW
After a thrilling day of racing along, the celebration continues at Göta Älv Rodden's afterparty, held at Poppels City Brewery. Located in the heart of Gothenburg, Sweden, Poppels City Brewery sets the stage for an unforgettable evening of festivities. With live music from DJs, delicious food and drinks, and a special awards ceremony to honor participants' achievements, the afterparty promises to be an electrifying culmination of the day's events. Join us at Poppels City Brewery to unwind, socialize, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
